OUR STORY
Much like many businesses, The Homebased Worker began as the vision of one woman, evolving rapidly from a one-woman team to a flourishing 6-figure agency with a team of ten in just a few years.
The journey began amidst the global pandemic, a time when countless plans came to an unexpected halt. Our founder, Lyra, had recently ventured into a newfound business, Blushing Gifts, an Online Gifting Shop in her hometown. But as the pandemic intensified, Lyra found herself “stuck” in Malaysia, unable to return home.
Drawing on her experience of managing remote teams, co-leading businesses, and her innate ability to craft businesses with just a MacBook, WiFi, and unwavering grit, Lyra pivoted. She delved into her vast remote work experience and decided that this time, she’d take the more challenging route of starting her own business as an online service provider rather than becoming a remote employee again. It was a fusion of her entrepreneurial spirit, her experience, and her knack for getting things done.
Through word-of-mouth, recommendations, and referrals, The Homebased Worker expanded quickly. Instead of taking the traditional hiring route, Lyra embraced the challenge of building her team with friends eager to leave the corporate world, students looking for opportunities, and dedicated stay-at-home moms. She invested in training them from the ground up.
This journey ignited a profound mission: to empower women to build careers from home, ensuring they never have to choose between their careers and running a household. Whether by supporting business owners or by paving new career paths, at its core, The Homebased Worker is dedicated to helping business owners, especially women, to have it all and be it all.
